![]() ![]() I kept seeing the ads on facebook, and read up o the process it uses to kill mold and other things. I wanted to tell you about this cleaning system I found. Anyone have an opinion on whether that is way too pricey and I should get another estimate? That doesn't include the semi-frameless glass door. That comes with a border of tile near the top. The shower we are putting in our master (36x36) was quoted as around $3500 installed. I have a feeling the Onyx Collection will be more costly. We still have to decide on cultured marble from Virginia Marble or the Onyx Collection. Had I known I could do this even for our fiberglass tub and shower, I would have done it years ago. Apparently this is recommended for the base as well. I just wanted to put out there that the one thing we have been told is to apply a car wax to the walls and Rain-X to the glass door to keep soap scum from building up and water stains from the glass. The pictures everyone has posted are very nice. I just found this page and as others have said this is an old thread, but it has helped me in deciding on the Onyx collection. This layout gives me the elbow room I need, but would also take the smaller Swanstone base that is available, too. So even though I would not use the Onyx walls, I do like this layout. This shower would make showering possible in that situation. Either way, I can see me someday needing to keep my knee straight following injury or surgery again (like when I was 18, the last time I let a surgeon near me!). With our disorder, the process of having a knee replacement done puts us at risk for rupture, or simple loose tendons not holding the new knee in place well. This lady had done that, and just weeks later, a ligament ruptured and fractured her knee cap. I probably should not have a knee replacement. I just learned that every cartilage in my "better" knee is torn and the joint spaces are consequentially narrowing. Her collagen disorder is similar, but not identical, to mine. The extra long bench strikes me as desirable this week because at a support group meeting this Sunday, our leader had ruptured a tendon in her knee and was not supposed to bend it. ![]() I was just looking at the Onyx photos and saw this one. I just need some tile and the shower floor and walls. I have almost all the plumbing on premises. My old dog who was peeing on a mat in the bathroom has passed on, so we may now again get on with planning the remodel. I don't want lighter because the lighter clashed with my shower wall tile. This first pic shows my tile floor and you can see the onyx color is pretty close. If I go with onyx the only color I like comes in gloss (no matte) so I'm wondering if it will work. ![]() I'm doing dark charcoal tile in the bathroom and I found the same little matching tiles for the shower base. I feel like its superior in the sense of not having to work about grout on the shower floor but grout doesn't really bother me.ĭoes anyone love or dislike onyx or reg tile floors in showers? Please share any thoughts or comments. Although cost is only about a 25% factor, I just don't know if I like the looks of onyx. Contractor says tile shower floor will be about $600-$800 more. I'm getting quotes around $600 for the onyx base. I didn't know you could order just the base so I never thought I would use it. I just assumed I would get matching shower tile for the shower floor but then my contractor mentioned getting an onyx shower base. ![]() I already bought shower tile for the walls. I'm getting ready to redo my master bath. ![]()
